30 Sept. 2022: Citroen's quirky electric Ami runaround has got a new green zero-emissions big brother called Oli. And parts of it is made from cardboard.
The squared-off SUV has a 100 per cent recycled construction – with vehicle parts that can be reused or recycled throughout its lifetime - and is designed to do for fun family mobility what Ami achieved for personal urban driving.
It boasts innovative use of new materials leading to lower weight, less cost and a smaller environmental footprint. And it also has a completely vertical windscreen, a flatbed boot and non-slip roof you can lie on top of.
Bosses at the French car brand have even put a fictional price tag of €25,000 (around £22,000) on it, though the Oli remains a concept for now and isn't planned for production anytime soon.
The all-electric powertrain has a 40kWh battery which gives the lightweight vehicle weighing less than a tonne a range of up to 248 miles.
Riding on lightweight 20-inch wheels, top speed is limited to 68mph to maximise efficiency and it can be rapid charged to 80 per cent in just 23 minutes.
If the Hummer had a child that turned into an eco-warrior, this is what it would look like, with chunky offroader looks and a pick-up style flatbed making it a flexible load and passenger-lugger.
Citroen said Oli is a 'family limo, urban explorer, adventure vehicle, workmate, or even an extension to the family home thanks to its ability to power everyday appliances'.
