30 Mar. 2022. PITA has been contacted by a retired ex member with a plea for help in obtaining small samples (around 500ml if possible) of paper dyes - preferably bright colours. After a lifetime spent in the paper industry, mainly with Wiggins Teape, he is now spending part of his retirement visiting schools, clubs and societies talking about paper making and, in some cases, teaching the children to make handsheets.
Children tend to like bright colours, but his stock of dyes has now almost run out, so he is looking for a donor or two to supply some samples to help his voluntary work.
We all know the importance of educating children about our industry; here is somebody doing it first-hand. If any suppliers (or indeed mills) could spare some small samples, we (PITA) will put you in touch with our correspondent. In return, we are happy to publish the company names of any who can help, and maybe (if we can persuade him), our correspondent might write a few words about his work in a future newsletter.
