For the fifth consecutive year, BillerudKorsnäs receives the Gold Award of Ecovadis, thus continuing to be one in the top of the 50,000 companies being evaluated.
EcoVadis is a leading system for evaluating company environmental aspects, working conditions, business responsibility and subcontractors. The system is used by multinational brands with high ethical ambitions when they evaluate their supply chains. The evaluation is broad and takes place in four categories: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Purchasing.
This year's evaluation shows that BillerudKorsnäs remains in the top layer of all companies in the same industry. The company improves its performance in sustainable purchasing as well as ethics, while performance in the environment and human rights decrease slightly compared with the previous year.
"BillerudKorsnäs continues to be ranked as one of the best of all evaluated companies, showing that our company is sustainable, but also that we must continue to work hard to improve. There is always room for improvement, and we see that the environment and the labor & human rights are areas where we, according to Ecovadis, can get better" says Malin Ljung Eiborn, Director Sustainability & Public Affairs.
BillerudKorsnäs is evaluated annually by Ecovadis since several customers demand reporting and evaluation in the system as part of their work on a sustainable value chain. Customers connect to BillerudKorsnäs in the system upon request, and thus take part of our answers and the assessment made by Ecovadis.
EcoVadis’ methodology is based on internationally accepted sustainability reporting principles such as GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), UN Global Compact and ISO 26000, and reviewed by independent sustainability experts.
