Closed Circulation Solutions from Flow Control
A new invention to handle seal water used in rotating shaft seals in the pulp and paper industries is also available from Flow Control. The sealing of rotating shafts is a significant cost factor in most process industries and any failures can be extremely costly.
Of robust and reliable construction, the Thermosiphon SP8 seal pot system is designed to be used with double mechanical seals equipped with pump features. Together they form a closed seal liquid circulation loop and keep the seal lubricated and cooled at all times, preventing dry run, and extending the lifetime of the seal.
Water usage with traditional seal water technology is eyewatering
Say one pump uses 4 litres of seal water a minute, or 240 litres an hour.
The pump runs 24 hours = 5760 litres / in 24 hours.
One paper machine can have 100 pumps, together using 576 000 litres in 24 hours.
In just 30 days consumption would be well over 17 million litres of water!
All of this water is running out in the basement, part is cleaned and pumped back as seal water, the rest released out in rivers, one could say throwing money down the drain, The Thermosiphon SP8 ends all this by closed loop technology and the savings can be astronomical.
